With my grandkids Max and Ava, December 2005

A bit about me
I was born in Sydney Australia on 18 March 1964. I live in the beautiful
Southern Highlands (about 100km south-west of Sydney). I have a lovely step-daughter Hazel who is 28 years old, a gorgeous granddaughter Ava
who was born on 10 June 2003, and a beautiful grandson
Max, who was born on 26 February 2005 (see picture right).
My father, grandfather, great-grandfather and many relatives before that were Anglican ministers - so I was brought up in a religious Anglican family. This was good
for a numbers of reasons:
- It introduced me to God at an early age.
- It was an essential part of my development, realising that there
was so much more to life than organised religion. (There were lots
of nice people in my church, but I also saw A LOT of hypocrisy over
the years, and this made me realise that God was MORE than religion.)
- Although being religious often means being close-minded, a lot
of religions do have a basic ethic of fair-mindedness, caring for
one another, and a basic morality.
I can remember being about 10 years old and asking my mother "what
if you are a native on an island and you've never heard of Jesus,
does that mean you'd go to hell?" My mother answered (somewhat
hesitantly thinking 'this kid is such a pain with his questions')
"well, Jesus said 'those who are not for me are against me'."
Now, I thought that wasn't fair at all, and didn't think it was true (and I got the feeling that my mother didn't really think that either!)
I always believed that there is a natural justice operating in the
universe, and God is not a vicious, vengeful God.
I grew up always wanting to help people, and not really knowing how
I should go about it. And I always felt deep in my heart that 'magic'
was possible, but as a child all I thought I needed was to discover
the secret way of waving my hands around, and magic would be mine!
I also grew up praying a lot, and found that my prayers were often
answered. I realised that I was sensitive to what other people were
thinking and feeling, and had a number of psychic experiences, although
at the time I just put it down to coincidence.
I travelled overseas for a year when I was 21, and upon my return,
was diagnosed with a malignant melanoma, a potentially life-threatening
skin cancer. A painful experience I was in hospital for a whole
month and recuperating for months after yet huge personal growth
was achieved.
Not long after that, I was given a book to read - "The Teachings of Silver Birch". It totally changed
my life and filled in all the blanks that I'd always wondered about.
Suddenly *everything* made a lot of sense to me and I immediately
'rememebered' so much. (It is a MUST-read for anyone on the path.)
I proceeded to read a lot of books many were biographies of
psychics and healers. When I tried healing, I was amazed to find that
people were telling me that they felt better, or that a pain had immediately
disappeared. The more I practised it, the more I realised that this
was not a coincidence. Something was going on here.
To a large extent, I consider myself a healer who just happens to have a day job
to pay the bills! It would be nice to devote myself to healing full time as well as saving the planet... maybe one day.
One thing I know is that healing works through me, and it's something
I enjoy doing, and will be doing for the rest of my life. It's a great
feeling being able to help people.
Some of my interests
I love music. On the classical side, I love Baroque music
especially, and sometimes a bit of opera. On the contemporary side,
I like rock music, a lot of old-school metal-type rock (my favourite bands being Queen and Deep Purple), and plenty of indie-type rock too. I also play the guitar
pretty well (some flashes of brilliance but many more flashes of mediocrity). I don't like country OR western music... or jazz. I don't like much rap or hip hop either.
Sport. I love sport. I especially love cricket and rugby. However, I'd prefer to watch
grass grow than watch tennis. I love yoga and practice it every morning and I would recommend it to anyone without hesitation. It's a full body work out for stretching, mobility, stregnth, breathing and so much more.
Animal rights. How can we be truly evolved or compassionate
in life, if we are not compassionate towards our animal brothers and
sisters, as well as other people. I've been vegetarian since 1990, and vegan since 1995, and although doing it for ethical reasons, a whole world of healing has been revealed regarding what we eat.
Computers. Love that technology.
Meditation. I meditate at least once a day and try to do
it morning and night. The more we meditate, the more we develop our
own intuition, and the closer we come to God.
Well, that's it in a nutshell!
